A&M Studios - Clothing

Our Story

Grew up in Hong Kong, lived in Nancy, France and Tokyo Japan, artist Aleana Yiu has been working with Chinese Brush Paintings for many years since she settled in Northern California. She is a graphic designer by training and 6-time winner (1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2003, 2023) of the annual contests hosted by Graphic Design USA (New York) Magazine. Aleana also likes print making and has silk-screened many of her works.

For the last ten years, she turned her focus more to fabric sewing. She studied with wearable artist/fashion designer Jill Pillot for 3 years. Aleana sews garments from rescued fabric materials which otherwise would end up in landfill. Giving back to the community, Aleana volunteers in food banks and fabric rescue organizations like FabMo, helps out with Election Voting, she is also a substitute teacher for the school district and a licensed preschool teacher.

What sets us apart

Each A&M Studios Garment is Hand Made

Fabrics Hand Washed

Before any designing or sewing, all fabrics are hand washed.

Sun Dried (and Ironed)

After washing the fabrics are air dried and then ironed so that any patterns in the fabric can be accurately matched. And so the cutting patterns can be accurately traced.

Patterns Matched

Fabric cuts are planned to either make patterns match or create more interesting designs  - not the simplest thing when one only has small samples to work with!  (this is not best picture of the process - better pictures coming)
